Music makes a difference

We gave a talk yesterday, at Innova JC. Five hundred or so students. A very big thank you to all the teachers and students involved, for their kind hospitality. Patrick spoke about his experiences in the local music scene, using New Media for community outreach. He shared some interesting learning points from a few of his bigger projects so far. These include:
. setting up a local network of music volunteers, as the founder and leader of the non-profit Music For Good

. putting out a stream of educational content in nine different languages, when he was working on the regional anti-human trafficking campaign, MTV Exit

. encouraging more online submissions from young local musicians, as part of the Noise Singapore festival

. exploring fresh avenues for using social media to promote local indie bands, with Walk On Music
At the end of the session, some students stayed behind, to talk to Patrick about starting a new band, and making their own music. What a great bunch.
